I am always looking for ideas to help my lovies eat better. It is sometimes hard to find things that do not have scary ingredients in them. As my older lovie grows I am trying to get her to give new foods a chance.  There are some foods I am not sad she has no interest in, like hot dogs and the like.  However, I would like her to branch out to healthy sources of lean protein a bit. I do not mean to complain too much because she is a really great eater as is my little mister.  However, I still always add in extra healthy ingredients whenever I can. πŸ™‚

I am also trying to work on finding a balance with starting to allow her to have occasional treats like other kids her age.  I try to keep it within healthier options like frozen yogurt and chocolate frozen bananas or homemade baked goods.  I really cringe at the thought of candy but I try and allow her to enjoy a little on special occasions like parties or holidays.  I admittedly struggle with wanting to keep her within a protective natural food bubble but I know I must slowly relent within reason and empower her to make healthy choices as she grows.  *Fingers crossed*

I will also continue to get away with all the extra nutrients I can for as long as I can. πŸ˜‰Β  Now to the smoothie.Β  Don’t let the Beets deter you from this delicious smoothie.Β  I have it on Toddler (2 and 4 yr old) authority that this smoothie ROCKS. πŸ™‚ Β  My little mister actually cried once when his smoothie was done.Β  I came up with this while messing around with combinations in the kitchen.Β  Give it a try and you will be happy you did. πŸ™‚

Servings

2-3

servings

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp Roasted Beets*

  • 1 Frozen Banana*

  • 1 cup Frozen Strawberries*

  • 3 cups Milk (I used Vanilla Soy)

Directions

  • Add all ingredients to blender
  • Blend until smooth
  • Enjoy πŸ™‚

Notes

  • Β To roast beets wash and lightly wrap in tin foil with a tent on 400 degrees for about an hour. Puree the Beets and spoon into an ice cube tray to freeze. I used 2 cubes for the smoothie. I freeze all the fruit to eliminate the need for ice.
