As some of you may know I recently completed my Internship for Mental Health Counseling at a non profit counseling practice with Dr. Warren Corson III. Community Counseling of Central CT is a center that is known for its dedication to the community. I am no longer interning there but I continue to stay involved by serving on the Board of Directors for the center.
I greatly admire the work that Dr. Corson does. He works tirelessly to help those in need find the support they seek. His Not for Profit practice is a wonderful example of how one person truly can make a difference. Dr. Corson’s dedication to helping others in turn inspires others to lend a hand as well.
Dr. Corson is now looking to expand his practice to be able to do even more work for the community. He has purchased a historic local farm and has helped to protect and preserve the rich history it holds. The old barn is being renovated to become the new offices for the practice. He has already restored a sense of community by creating a warm and inviting environment that is reminiscent of days gone by.
The first project, a community garden, has blossomed beyond the wildest Dreams of a first year run. The garden surplus is now supplying a farm stand with a “Take what you need, leave what you can” opportunity open to the public. The current project in the works is a teen recreation room to give the local youth a place to interact in a positive and natural setting. There are many other visions that will take life as the project unfolds.
This is where the fundraiser comes in. I am planning to do a new twist on a traditional bake sale to raise money for Pillwillop Therapeutic Farm. I will be conducting an auction style bake sale here starting Sept 10th and ending Sept 16th.
How It Works
Various baked goods made by me and my friends will be auctioned off. Each baked good will have a post on which you can place bids, with the bidding starting at $15 for each item. Bids can be placed by making a comment on the post. The highest bidder at the end of the auction will be contacted for payment through Paypal.
Once payment is received, the baked good will be shipped to the winner by the baker.
All proceeds to benefit Pillwillop Therapeutic Farm. The money raised will go directly toward the community garden and community vegetable stand program. It seems only fitting that food will help make food!
Click here if you are interested in donating a baked good for the sale.
